Chete Gorge and Ruzi Camp

Close to Sijarira Lodge are the seasonal camps of Chete Gorge and Ruzi Camp. Located on the shores of the Chete safari area, these two fully furnished and equipped lodges offer fishermen and their families the opportunity to book the camp exclusively.

With elevated views of the lake, Chete spawns the best sunsets you'll see anywhere on Kariba. Ruzi, being more of a "wild" camp, offers the same services as Chete with the added advantage of sharing your camp with some of the "Big Five", more often than not on a daily basis.

Both camps provide the guest with a clean, comfortable, hospitable weekend getaway. Whatever you desire - fishing, game viewing, bird watching or just plain relaxation in the sun -Chete or Ruzi is the place to do it, away from it all.

Situated in the middle and narrowest section of Kariba, in wilderness areas with little or no netting and fishing pressure, houseboat or pleasure boating activities nearby, and access to the upper reaches of the Senkwe and Ruzi rivers, they're the ultimate spots for a weekend dose of peace and quiet.

The fishing is superlative and although good catches are made year round, September through March are considered the prime months. Tiger fish are always first on most of our guests' lists, but don't discount the quality bream and chessa fishing, as well as vundu, barbel, bottlenose and cornish jack.

HHK Safaris offers clients exclusivity on either a fully catered or self catered basis. The fully catered package includes boats, tackle and bait, exquisite meals and cold drinks. For self catered packages we will provide trained staff such as chefs, waiters and a laundry service as well as 24hour generator power. Chete and Ruzi are serviced by the Sijarira airstrip.
