Professional Hunter's Profiles: Ivan Carter
 Born and educated in Zimbabwe, Ivan began his apprenticeship as a professional hunter in 1989, passing his canoe guiding, professional guiding and professional hunting exams in 1990, 1991 and 1992 respectively. Ivan was awarded the 'Best Guide' Trophy in 1991 based on his professional guide exam performance, and has since been appointed examiner of candidates for professional guide and canoe guide examinations. He is keen on photography and was awarded 'Best Photograph' in the Zimbabwe Hunters' and Guides Association photographic competition in 1993. Ivan's invaluable experience has not gone unnoticed. International recognition has been made with personal profiles appearing in the UK Sunday Times Magazine and the BBC Wildlife Magazine, as well as a nomination as one of the top four guides in Africa by USA's Travel and Leisure Magazine. He has had the honor of being invited as a guest speaker at Stanford University, USA, Saint Paul's College, USA, and the Edinburgh Zoo, Scotland. Ivan is presently the owner of Ivan Carter Safaris which offers a private guide service throughout Africa, and carries out hunting excursions in Zimbabwe. He is also a proud member of HHK Safaris' team of professional hunters. |
